Espoo, Finland – Nokia, Telia and the Finnish Defense Forces have successfully conducted the world's first seamless 5G standalone slice handover between multiple countries in a live network. This groundbreaking trial, carried out in Finland in March, represents a significant milestone in advancing critical 5G capabilities for defense and other mission critical industries.

 

The test, conducted as part of a Nordic exercise with the Finnish Defense Forces, demonstrated a continuous and secure data connection over a 5G standalone slice while moving across three separate networks in three different countries. This capability is crucial for modern defense forces, as military personnel increasingly operate in coalitions beyond their national territories while requiring uninterrupted access to mission-critical applications and services.

 

"This trial marks a significant milestone in showcasing the dual-use possibilities of 5G for defense while also enhancing communication capabilities within the NATO domain. We are delighted to have partnered with Nokia and Telia on this project and are eager to explore further opportunities for integrating 5G into our operations," said Jarmo Vähätiitto, Major General, Finnish Defense Command, Chief of C5.

The trial was achieved through Nokia's industry-leading 5G Core Software as a Service (SaaS) and AirScale 5G base stations powered by ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, connected to Telia's commercial network. Additionally, Nokia's intelligent network management system, MantaRay NM, provided a consolidated network view, optimizing monitoring and management.

Espoo – Nokia on tänään luovuttanut 3 935 723 yhtiön hallussa ollutta Nokian osaketta (NOKIA) vastikkeetta suorituksena Nokian osakepohjaisiin kannustinohjelmiin osallistuneille henkilöille ohjelmien ehtojen mukaisesti. Osakkeiden luovutus perustuu 22.11.2024 julkistettuun hallituksen päätökseen yhtiön hallussa olevien osakkeiden antamisesta ohjelmien mukaisten sitoumusten täyttämiseksi.

Nokia Oyj:n hallussa olevien omien osakkeiden lukumäärä luovutuksen jälkeen on 216 573 408.

Espoo, Finland – A total of 3 935 723 Nokia shares (NOKIA) held by the company were transferred today without consideration to participants of Nokia's equity-based incentive plans in accordance with the rules of the plans. The transfer is based on the resolution of the Board of Directors to issue shares held by the company to settle its commitments to participants of the plans as announced on 22 November 2024.

The number of own shares held by Nokia Corporation following the transfer is 216 573 408.

Espoo, Finland – Nokia and Fibrus, a leading provider of broadband services across Northern Ireland and Cumbria, have signed a five-year agreement to deploy the Nokia Deepfield solution across its growing network following a successful trial. This partnership will enhance Fibrus' ability to protect its network from cyber threats like DDoS attacks and manage the increasing demand for high-quality broadband services.

 

As Fibrus expands its network, which has already connected over 100,000 customers and delivered connectivity to almost 400,000 premises, the Nokia Deepfield solution will provide critical network analytics capabilities, giving Fibrus greater insight into the nature of the traffic flowing through its infrastructure. This will allow Fibrus to optimize network resources, ensuring that customers continue to receive reliable, high-performance broadband.

 

"Our commitment to guarantee exceptional service for our customers means that we're always looking for ways to innovate and improve our network. The Deepfield solution from Nokia gives us the tools to understand our traffic better, protect against potential threats, and reduce operational costs. Fibrus will proactively manage the rapid growth of its network, driven by a 50% take-up rate of FTTH services, including 2 Gbps products. Additionally, the scalability of the Nokia Deepfield solution will enable Fibrus to cost-effectively manage future service expansions, such as 25/50/100G PON technologies.

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced that GigaOm has for the fourth straight year recognized the company as a Leader and Outperformer in the GigaOm Radar Report for Data Center Switching. Nokia's Data Center Fabric solution, designed to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable performance in data center and cloud environments, earned high marks for its extensive hardware portfolio, advanced operations and management capabilities, strong NetOps suitability, and dedicated focus on AI-driven features.

 

GigaOm's industry experts evaluated nine leading data center switching vendors across a comprehensive set of criteria. providing technology teams and executive leadership with a detailed decision-making framework for assessing data center switching solutions. Key metrics include hardware switch performance, software advancements for network operating systems (NOSs), and automation tools for designing, deploying and operating large-scale data center networks. GigaOm notes that data center switches are evolving to enhance these capabilities as enterprises transition to an 'application-first' orientation and evolve to embrace AI-driven applications and use cases.

 

Nokia's comprehensive hardware portfolio supports port speeds ranging from 1 GbE up to 800 GbE and includes the 7250 IXR series of high-performance, high-density, modular and fixed-configuration platforms designed for data center spine deployments , the 7220 IXR series of high-performance, high-density, fixed-configuration platforms for data center leaf and spine deployments and the 7215 IXS platform for reliable out-of-band management.

 

Designed to enhance and scale operations across the entire data center fabric lifecycle, the Nokia Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform serves as a powerful operational toolkit and management system. Its highly automated approach to day0 design, day1 deployment, and day2 ongoing operations contributed to Nokia's strong ranking.

 

Nokia's solution also earned high marks for SR Linux, its microservices-based NOS. GigaOm evaluated network operating systems based on their use of containerized microservices that handle network functions, as well as Large Language Model (LLM) integration, which enables natural language insights into the state of the network without relying on CLI commands or complex UI navigation.

 

Nokia's NetOps Development Kit (NDK) is cited as a differentiating feature, enabling networking teams to take advantage of the underlying model-driven architecture of SR Linux. Using the NDK, data center teams can develop new apps and operational tools in their chosen programming language and get deep programmatic access to, and control over, the entire IXR switching system.

 

Nokia's solution earned exceptional reliability scores, highlighting its strengths in failover handling, traffic rerouting, troubleshooting, repairs as well as disaster recovery in case of hardware failures or other incidents.

Nokian marraskuussa 2024 käynnistämä omien osakkeiden takaisinosto-ohjelma on saatu päätökseen

Espoo – Nokia Oyj ("Nokia" tai "Yhtiö") on saanut päätökseen omien osakkeiden takaisinosto-ohjelman, jonka aloittamisesta tiedotettiin 22.11.2024. Takaisinosto-ohjelman tarkoituksena oli kompensoida Infinera-hankinnan aiheuttamaa laimennusvaikutusta. Nokia osti ajanjaksolla 25.11.2024–2.4.2025 takaisin 150 000 000 omaa osakettaan (FI0009000681) noin 4,69 euron keskihintaan.

Nokia aikoo mitätöidä hankitut osakkeet huhtikuussa 2025.

Takaisinostot omien osakkeiden takaisinosto-ohjelmassa vähensivät Yhtiön vapaata omaa pääomaa noin 703 miljoonalla eurolla. Nokia Oyj:n omistuksessa on nyt yhteensä 220 509 131 omaa osaketta.

Osakkeet hankittiin muutoin kuin Nokian osakkeenomistajien osakeomistuksen suhteessa (suunnattu hankkiminen) julkisessa kaupankäynnissä Nasdaq Helsingin säännellyllä markkinapaikalla sekä tietyissä monenkeskisissä kaupankäyntijärjestelmissä.

Nokia completes the share buyback program launched in November 2024

Espoo, Finland – Nokia Corporation ("Nokia" or the "Company") has now completed the share buyback program announced on 22 November 2024 the purpose of which was to offset the dilutive effect of the Infinera acquisition. Between 25 November 2024 and 2 April 2025, Nokia repurchased 150,000,000 of its own shares (FI0009000681) at an average price per share of approximately EUR 4.69.

Nokia expects to cancel the acquired shares in April 2025.

The repurchases under the share buyback program reduced the Company's unrestricted equity by approximately EUR 703 million. Nokia Corporation now holds a total of 220,509,131 treasury shares.

The repurchases were executed otherwise than in proportion to the existing shareholdings of Nokia's shareholders (directed repurchases) through public trading on the regulated market of Nasdaq Helsinki and selected multilateral trading facilities.

Bharti Airtel and Nokia expand core network collaboration to speed-up new 5G service delivery

Espoo, Finland – Nokia and Bharti Airtel are expanding their partnership with the deployment of Nokia's Packet Core appliance-based and Fixed Wireless Access solutions for providing a better network experience for Airtel's growing 4G/5G customer base. The solution will help seamlessly integrate 5G and 4G technologies into a single set of servers. Nokia's FWA will provide additional capacities for home broadband and enterprise-critical application services. Airtel will use Nokia's automation framework to realise zero-touch service launch and efficient lifecycle management for core network functions to enhance its ability to deliver new services faster while reducing network operational costs.

 

Using Nokia's converged Packet Core solution for 5G standalone (SA) readiness, Airtel will continue its evolution toward advanced 5G and simplify its network architecture to meet the ever growing need of data while reducing network operational costs. This will help Airtel optimise its hardware footprint and reduce its cost per bit by utilising appliance-based Packet Core gateways, while maintaining the rest of the network elements in a cloud-native architecture.

 

The rollout covers network automation in a multi-year deal that spans the majority of Airtel service regions across the country. The collaboration entails advancing autonomous networks by utilising GenAI for service orchestration and assurance.

Nokia's solution provides a pre-integrated and modular server-based configuration for increased flexibility to support a wider range of business and operational deployment models. This allows Airtel to better target new customers and create new revenue streams.

 

Nokia's Packet Core solution for Fixed Wireless Access enables additional capacity for home broadband and enterprise-critical application services for the delivery of extreme bandwidth and capacity to customers.

 

Nokia has an expansive core footprint in Bharti Airtel's network and already provides several other core technologies including VoLTE (Voice over LTE), HSS (Home Subscriber Server), HLR (Home Location Register), UDM (Unified Data Management) and VoNR (Voice over New Radio), along with MANO (automated Management & Orchestration).
