"Connected Industry -ekosysteemi on tärkeä askel kohti teollisuuden digitalisaatiota.

Zain Saudi Arabia delivers a superior experience during Hajj and Ramadan with Nokia software

Press Release

  • Nokia's EdenNet Self-Organizing Network (SON) software allows leading Saudi service provider to maximize network performance despite massive surge in data and voice traffic
  • Enables Zain Saudi Arabia to continuously deliver best-in-class voice and data services by automatically identifying and resolving network issues

December 18, 2017

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Using Nokia's EdenNet SON software, Zain Saudi Arabia effectively managed the surge in data and voice traffic in Makkah and Medina during the Hajj and Ramadan, allowing pilgrims to remain connected and share their journey with loved ones.

Large public events or gatherings generate significant pressure on mobile networks, challenging service providers to provide best-in-class voice and data services. During the recent Hajj and Ramadan, Zain Saudi Arabia was able to eliminate service disruptions and network degradation by deploying Nokia's EdenNet SON software with Nokia Global Services expertise. By automatically identifying and resolving network issues, Zain Saudi Arabia was able to optimize the performance of its 3G and 4G networks.

Sultan Abdulaziz AlDeghaither, Chief Operations Officer, Zain Saudi Arabia, said: "Hajj and Ramadan attract millions of people from around the world, and Nokia's EdenNet SON software provided an exceptional quality of service during these pilgrimages. We are confident that Nokia's solution will continue to help us ensure customer loyalty and differentiate ourselves by allowing us to consistently deliver high-quality services. Nokia understands our requirements perfectly and customized the solution to meet our specific needs. The team also worked exceptionally hard to integrate the solution with our live network."

Ali Jitawi, head of the Zain Saudi Arabia customer team at Nokia, said: "SON is emerging as a technology of choice for network improvement and reliability, and it is especially useful in preparing the network for high-traffic events. EdenNet SON delivered improved performance in a number of areas, including reduced drop rates, and increased data connectivity and call success rates, among others. By providing a higher quality of service Zain was able to maximize network usage, which led to increased revenue."

Solutions used in the implementation:

  • Nokia's EdenNet SON automates and optimizes the performance of Zain's multi-vendor, multi-layer 3G and 4G networks. Nokia EdenNet modules, including Capacity and Coverage Optimization (CCO), Cross Antenna Detection and Automated Neighbor Relations (ANR), help the service provider effectively address congestion and avoid service degradations.
  • Nokia Care and Network Planning and Optimization (NPO) services helped to implement the new solution and maximize return on investment for Zain.  Nokia provided technical support and best practice sharing to help Zain optimize network performance before, during and after the Hajj and Ramadan.

Press Release

  • Nokia's Cloud Packet Core will add performance, scalability and flexibility to H3I's 4G mobile network to profitably deliver enhanced mobile broadband
  • Cloud-native infrastructure enables H3I to reduce capital expenditure, minimize operating costs and speed time-to-market for new services

Espoo, Finland - PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia (H3I) has chosen the Nokia Cloud Packet Core solution to help meet rapid data growth in the Indonesian market. Nokia's solution enables H3I to provide a highly scalable platform to profitably deliver enhanced mobile broadband and move towards future innovative services.

A leader in providing data services, especially to the all-important millennial market, H3I has chosen Nokia to evolve its mobile packet core to a cloud-based architecture. This move is part of H3I's digital transformation for superior customer experience and preparations to deliver future services. Part of Nokia's AirGile portfolio, the cloud-native design allows H3I to lower costs and substantially accelerate time-to-market for innovative new services.

Nokia's industry-leading and field-proven Cloud Packet Core solution includes its Cloud Mobility Manager and Cloud Mobile Gateway. Providing reliability, scalability, flexibility and performance, the Nokia Cloud Packet Core anchors multi-technology access across wireless licensed, shared, unlicensed spectrum and fixed network technologies, enabling H3I to support a greater variety of devices and deliver a broader range of services over multiple access technologies.

NOKIA : International financial group Crèdit Andorrà turns to Nokia to quickly connect data centers and branch offices globally

NOKIA

NOKIA : International financial group Crèdit Andorrà turns to Nokia to quickly connect data centers and branch offices globally

Press Release

13 December, 2017

International financial group Crèdit Andorrà turns to Nokia to quickly connect data centers and branch offices globally

  • Financial services company leverages SD-WAN technology from Nokia's Nuage Networks to rapidly provision network connections at new locations
  • Move will deliver much greater flexibility to Crèdit Andorrà Financial Group's business operations, enabling the fast ramp-up of branches and temporary offices
  • Project highlights Nokia's momentum serving customers in the financial sector that are engaged in digital transformation efforts

Espoo, Finland - Nokia has joined forces with Crèdit Andorrà Financial Group to enable the global financial services company to more quickly and easily connect its branch locations and remote sites worldwide to its corporate data centers and applications. With deployment of the software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) technology from Nuage Networks, the Nokia venture focused on software-defined networking (SDN) solutions, Crèdit Andorrà Financial Group now has a single, consistent platform to support business-critical applications for its global banking operations.

The Nuage Networks SD-WAN solution, Virtualized Network Services (VNS), allows Crèdit Andorrà Financial Group to dynamically provision new business sites, applications and both private and public cloud services and networks far more quickly than is possible with less automated WAN processes and infrastructure, enabling greater business agility for the bank. The Nuage Networks platform provides policy-based automation of quality of service (QoS) and security for each application and location as services are ordered through a self-management portal. The next generation Nuage Networks SD-WAN fabric will greatly accelerate service delivery while reducing operating overhead and costs.

With this latest initiative, Crèdit Andorrà Financial Group will enhance the speed and security of its existing financial service offerings, and enable it to extend those services to additional markets quickly and cost effectively. It will also enable the bank to establish and enforce consistent security and access policies across all of its locations, greatly simplifying regulatory compliance and reducing the need for large on-site teams to support each branch office or temporary project site, further reducing costs.

This agreement highlights Nokia's and Nuage Networks growing momentum in the delivery of business-critical networks for customers outside of the traditional communications service provider market. Large financial institutions around the world represent an attractive opportunity as they embrace digital transformation and seek to take advantage of the benefits SDN technology can bring to their operations.

Alfred Alcon, CTO of Crèdit Andorrà, said: "We are very pleased with our partnership with Nokia's Nuage Networks, as it allowed us to quickly and securely extend the reach of our financial services and key applications. Stability and security are key concerns for financial institutions when evolving an IT infrastructure. We are happy to report our Nuage Networks SD-WAN implementation is delivering on the expected operational cost reductions and accelerated service delivery across our WAN."

Manolo Ortiz, managing director of large enterprises at Nokia's Nuage Networks, said:

"We are proud to be partnered with Crèdit Andorrà Financial Group, an astute banking operation that recognized the benefits to be gained from SD-WAN and is now capitalizing on the technology to quickly capture more opportunities in the global market. The agreement underlines our momentum in this business, and is further proof of the success that SD-WAN technology can bring to different market segments."
